From All Sides (2025)
This feature film debut from Bina Bhattacharya is a subversive, sexually frank drama about a seemingly average suburban middle-class family.
Western Sydney married multiracial bisexual couple Anoushka and Pascal maintain a discreet open relationship, all while juggling their jobs and raising two teenage children. A former professional dancer, Anoushka now works in the not-for-profit sector where she’s tokenised by her white colleagues. When their daughter Nina seeks Anoushka’s help in applying for a prestigious dance school it catapults the entire family into parallel journeys of cultural and sexual awakenings amidst a minefield of race relations and class tensions.
Featuring both Bharatanatyam dance sequences and bisexual orgies, From All Sides wears its cultural specificity and overt queerness on its sleeve in equal measure. Led with diversity both behind and in front of the camera, it stars an array of local talent including Monique Kalmar (Shantaram), Max Brown (The Gloaming), Georgia Anderson (The Deb), Gavril Kumar, Susan Ling Young (The Office Australia), Rebekah Elmaloglou (Neighbours) and Josh Virgona (Iggy & Ace).
